"You should write a book." It's said to me so often, I believe I could go on a nice, long cruise around the world, if only I had a dollar for each time I've heard it. It's true: The things that happen to me on a daily basis are that which would make an extraordinary volume of entertainment for many people from different walks of life. The even better part is, as my friends say, there's NO WAY that I could make this stuff up, because even in the wildest imagination, the things that happen to me are just not things that could be made up! Go figure.
It's OK...those things that happen keep me on my toes, are lessons that help me grow and learn patience, and often times, they are stories I tell at a later date that may or may not be of value to someone else. Ideally, they do have value, and by sharing, I'm helping someone to avoid the mistake I made, or recover from one similar, or I'm just keeping someone's mind off of their daily grind with a silly story about something that at some point throughout my life has happened.
Speaking of story, I always have a story to tell about something, and usually, it entwines another story, and before you know it, I've told three. In a past life, when I was a teacher to my beloved "troublemakers", they caught me saying, "I have a story to tell about that..." or, "Let me tell you a story....". They used to roll their eyes and laugh, but I know they enjoyed the stories, and I hope that they learned a thing or two from them, or carried some small part of something I said with them that at some point, made them feel better or smile upon remembrance of said story.
I was asked recently by a new friend what my goals were in life. It sort of took me by surprise, because usually, I am the one asking that question to others. It's been a while since I thought about goals...I guess I just got busy with the mundane, the every day, and forgot to pay attention to my own goals. Embarrassed, I finally came up with a few things that seemed like good goals, and made a note to myself to examine the answer to that question more carefully when I had a moment to think clearly about it for a few minutes. One of the items on my make-believe list of goals that I rattled off to my new friend was to actually get on the ball with writing a "book". This is something, like I've mentioned, that has been thrown at me for many, many years, through every chapter and page of my life...there aren't too many commonalities between my different lives, but the suggestion of writing a book has been present in them all. I found that it also fell on my thought-about list of goals, and so here I am, writing my "book". Additionally, writing is very therapeutic to me, and something I love, so here I am, "writing" my "book".
I hope you'll come along the journey of my life with me, enjoying what I say, asking questions (I'll answer them), and commenting about your life as well. Interaction with people is something I love, so please don't be shy....say hello!
